School Principal: Carla Weedon
Trained: The Dance College, Royston
Teaches: Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street Dance, Gymnastics,
Contemporary, Technique & Acro

Carla started her dance training in Ballet, Tap and Modern at the age of 4, and continued to learn more styles of dance until she joined The Dance College in 2008 where she gained her teaching qualifications with the ISTD in Ballet, Tap, National Dance and Modern Theatre with a Diploma in Dance Instruction and Education (DDI & DDE)

Carla is a registered teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and enjoys teaching many freestyle styles of dance including street dance and lyrical. In 2019 she also become qualified in the brand new ISTD Contemporary syllabus.

Previous to opening Dance Connexions in 2012, Carla worked for a large variety of private dance schools in Herts, Beds and Bucks, teaching both children and adults, and dancing in many productions including a performance at The Royal Albert Hall.

 

Carla is qualified as a British Gymnastics Intermediate Primary teacher and she currently works in many local primary schools teaching Dance and Gymnastics.

In 2020 Carla has become an Acro teacher with Acrotrix and is currently training to become a Primary Physical Education Specialist with All For Sport.

Dance Teacher: Coral McCarthy
Trained: North Hertfordshire College
Teaches: Lyrical, Boys Street, Freestyle Disco, Street Dance, Technique

Coral first found her love for dance at The Stephanie Prior School of Dancing in Royston aged 6, where she studied a huge variety of classes including Ballet  and Tap (with Miss Carla), Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Freestyle, Street Dance and Acro.

She has performed in a variety of shows including performances at The Royal Albert Hall, Her Majesty's Theatre, London Twickenham, Wembley Stadium and Disneyland Paris. She has also appeared on Sky 1's 'Got to Dance'.

She graduated from North Hertfordshire College where she studied dance and is enjoying teaching at Dance Connexions.

Dance Teacher: Saoirse Heydon
Trained: Central School of Speech and Drama, Institute of Contemporary Music Performance
Teaches: Musical Theatre

Having first discovered her love for singing, dancing and acting in primary school, Saoirse began formal training in the performing arts aged ten. Alongside her academic education, she completed up to grade six in both singing (LCM board) and acting (LAMDA board) examinations. 
 

At school, she obtained both a GCSE and an A Level in Drama, as well as attending ‘Emil Dale’s School of Performing Arts’ for specialised training in dance, musical theatre and acting for three years. 
 

After this, she attended the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama to study Acting (alongside her sixth form studies). 
 

In 2020, she attended the University of Leeds to complete a BA in English Literature. Saoirse is now currently completing a Masters in Musical Performance at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London.”

Dance Assistant: Savi Ebenezer
Trained: University of Worcester
Assists in: Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, Street Dance & Contemporary

Savi discovered her passion for dance, while partaking in a college course that offered dance as part of one of her modules. She then pursued this at university and studied genres that included Ballet, Acro, Street, Modern, African, Latin, Gym and Lyrical.

Savi has performed in lots of different shows, including MacMillan Cancer and Sepsis fund raising events. She has performed at various venues, including the Six Ways Stadium in Worcester, as part of the half time entertainment alongside the likes of Ben Hughes and Joel Corry. 

She has worked in partnership with Dines Green community centre with children from deprived parts of Worcester and was presented with a medal from the Mayor of Worcester for supporting these amazing charity events. 

Savi is super excited to be assisting classes at Dance Connexions.
